INSCOP: Over 40pct of Romanians would vote AUR, 17.9% PSD, 15.2% PNL

October 9, 2025

Over 40% of Romanians would vote the Alliance for the Union of Romanians (AUR - opposition) and 17.9% the Social Democratic Party (PSD – ruling party), according to the findings of a barometer conducted by INSCOP Research, September 1-9, commissioned by the news platform Informat.ro, in partnership with the think-tank Strategic Thinking Group. Thus, 40.8% of voters would vote AUR (as against 40.5% in June and 38.1% in May), while 17.9% of respondents would choose PSD (as against 13.7% in June and 17.4% in May).As many as 15.2% of respondents would vote the National Liberal Party (PNL) (as against 17.3% in June and 16% in May), and 12.8% the Save Romania Union (USR) ( as against 13.1% in June and 12.2% in May).As many as 3.3% voters would vote the Party of Young People (POT) (4.2% in June and 3.2% in May), and 4% for the Hungarian Democratic Union of Romania (UDMR) (5.2% in June and 4.5% in May).S.O.S. Romania would capture 2.8% of respondents (1.9% in June and 2.5% in May), and Health Education Nature Sustainability Party (SENS ) 2.1% (2.4% in June and 3.3% in May). Also, 0.6% of voters express their preference for an independent (as against 1.4% in June and 1.5% in May), and 0.6% for another party (as against 0.5% in June and 1.3% in May)."The first sociological measurement within the INSCOP Barometer - Informat.ro carried out after the end of the vacation shows the consolidation of the voting intention for AUR around the threshold of 40%. There is a slight increase in the voting intention for PSD, a slight decrease in the case of PNL and stagnation in the case of USR. The cumulative electoral support for the 4 parties in the incumbent government coalition (PSD, PNL, USR, UDMR) of almost 50% is only 3 percent higher than the electoral support for the opposition parliamentary parties (AUR, POT and S.O.S.) of about 47%. Even if the electoral support for the coalition parties does not collapse, data suggest the sedimentation of a strong polarisation, with half of the total voters supporting the ruling parties and half supporting the opposition parties," according to Director of INSCOP Research, Remus Stefureac.Data were collected using the CATI method (telephone interviews) on a sample of 1,103 people aged 18 years and over. The maximum permissible error of the data is ? 2.95%, at a 95% confidence rate.
