Acting President Ilie Bolojan emphasized on Saturday, at the 'Coalition of the Willing' Summit, that reaching a lasting and just peace in Ukraine as soon as possible is in Romania's interest."Today, at the 'Coalition of the Willing' Summit, I emphasized that it is in Romania's interest for a lasting and just peace in Ukraine to be reached as soon as possible. This requires continued support and solid security guarantees for this country. I am convinced that Romania will continue to actively contribute to achieving our common goal", said Ilie Bolojan, in a post on his Facebook page, after participating in a videoconference at the 'coalition of the willing' summit in Kyiv.He said that all the leaders participating in the meeting"supported the proposal for a full and unconditional 30-day ceasefire in Ukraine and the need to maintain pressure on Russia, including new sanctions, in case of non-compliance with the ceasefire".Moreover, Bolojan added, the "essential role of the US and the close cooperation with this strategic ally" was emphasized."It has been an honor for me to participate in these important meetings, alongside our partners," concluded the interim president.Ukraine hosted a meeting on Saturday of leaders from the so-called "coalition of the willing" countries willing to provide it with security guarantees by participating in a peacekeeping force in the event of a peace agreement with Russia, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced on Friday, according to Reuters."We need this coalition, and it must be strong enough to guarantee security according to our common vision," Zelensky said in a video message, without specifying which leaders will attend the meeting. The Ukrainian president insisted that his country joins NATO, an idea that US President Donald Trump has ruled out. In these circumstances, with the support of British Prime Minister Keir Starmer and French President Emmanuel Macron in particular, Zelensky is trying to obtain the deployment of a contingent of foreign troops in Ukraine as a security guarantee, in case he reaches a peace agreement with Russian President Vladimir Putin.France and the United Kingdom have pushed the idea of forming a coalition of countries "willing" to participate in such a force with troops or other contributions. Several summits have already taken place at which this subject has been discussed, without any concrete decision being announced so far.Russia has repeatedly said it opposes the deployment of troops from NATO or EU countries allied with Ukraine to provide a form of security guarantee. Moscow describes such an action as "totally unacceptable" and has warned that it will consider countries participating in such a force to be involved in a "direct armed conflict" with Russia.  (Photo:https://www.presidency.ro/ro/media/galerie-foto-video)
