Intervenția prim-ministrului României Ion-Marcel Ciolacu la Conferința privind reconstrucția Ucrainei și rolul strategic al României

Romania - Ukraine relations will soon be elevated to the strategic partnership level, and an essential component of this partnership is the logistic hub to be established in Romania for Ukraine's assistance and reconstruction, Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu pointed out in his message read out in the opening of the Conference on Ukraine's reconstruction and Romania's strategic role.
The event is organized by the Romanian think tank New Strategy Center, under the patronage of the Government of Romania, and takes place in Sinaia, between December 13-14, 2023. The conference brings together government representatives, academic and international relations experts, high representatives, and diplomats, as well as the business sector representatives from Romania, Ukraine, the other EU states, and NATO.
Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu highlighted Romania's strategic role in supporting Ukraine both to resist Russia's illegal and unjustified military aggression and in the future reconstruction of Ukraine. Prime Minister mentioned the concrete measures taken by the Romanian Government, such as increasing the transit capacity that allowed 70 percent of Ukrainian grain exports to transit Romania on their way to international markets this year. The Head of the Romanian Executive highlighted the substantial increase in cooperation with Ukraine towards a strategic partnership based on concrete projects in the field of transport infrastructure, including with the assistance and coordination of Romanias Euro-Atlantic partners. Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu conveyed a message to international partners interested in participating in Ukraines reconstruction given that cross-border infrastructure projects will have a major impact at the end of the conflict and will lay the foundations of a real logistic hub on EU territory, in Romania, intended for Ukraine's reconstruction.
Prime Minister Ciolacu welcomed the online participation of his Ukrainian counterpart, Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal, and thanked the president of the New Strategy Center, George Scutaru, for organizing the Conference, appreciating that such events are instrumental for synchronizing strategies and plans regarding the support for Ukraine and its reconstruction.
