Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu: The funds earmarked for investment in the 2024 budget are over 7 percent of GDP
Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu welcomed today at Victoria Palace a World Bank delegation led by Marina Wes, World Banks Country Director for the European Union.
Preparation of the 2024 budget was an important topic on the agenda of the discussions. Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu presented on this occasion, the goals pursued by the Government in the next year's budget allocations configuration.
The amounts earmarked for investments hold an important share in the budget for 2024, over 7% of GDP. The Government is also considering introducing a set of new measures to combat tax evasion and establishing an inter-institutional structure to ensure a coherent implementation of these measures the Romanian Prime Minister pointed out.
Last but not least, Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu highlighted the efforts made to increase the absorption rate of EU funds, showing that our country will close the current financial year with an approximately 97 percent absorption rate.
The World Banks Country Director for the European Union Marina Wes, expressed the World Banks willingness to further support the Romanian authorities, both in terms of streamlining tax collection policies and combating tax evasion.
