Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu: Our Strategic Partnership with the United States is and will remain one of Romania's foreign and security policy pillars

Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu had a meeting today with House Armed Services Committee Chairman Mike Rogers and Ranking Member Adam Smith as part of his working visit to the United States.
On this occasion, the Romanian senior official thanked for the excellent level of the bilateral political dialogue and the U.S. Congress' contribution to the consolidation of the Romania - U.S. Strategic Partnership. The Prime Minister also emphasized the importance of developing and deepening this Partnership in all its cooperation dimensions, especially in defence, security, energy, trade and investments.
The Head of the Romanian Government discussed with the House Armed Services Committee officials the situation in the Eastern Europe region, respectively the security developments in the Black Sea region, and the Middle East. The dialogue also focused on Romanias support for Ukraine and the Republic of Moldova, the strengthening of NATOs position in the Black Sea region, the need to support an increased U.S. military presence in Romania and the bilateral defence opportunities.
- Our Strategic Partnership with the USA is and will remain one of Romania's foreign and security policy. Our country remains a source of stability in the Black Sea region and will further contribute to the strengthening and defense of the rules - based international order, stated Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu.
During the discussions with the American congressmen, the Head of the Romanian Executive voiced appreciation for the security assistance approved by the U.S. Congress for Romania, highlighting the consolidation of the dialogue and bilateral coordination for the implementation of the U.S. Strategy for security in the Black Sea region.
As regards cooperation with allies and partners in the Black Sea region, the Head of the Executive referenced the visit of the Romanian governments delegation to Kyiv for the first joint meeting of the Romanian and Ukrainian Cabinets.
The Prime Minister also highlighted the importance of the decisions adopted at the NATO Summit in Vilnius in July 2023 for the security and stability of the eastern flank of the Alliance.
In the context of the USA visit, Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu had a meeting with the U.S. defense industry representatives, Lockheed Martin representatives respectively. The Head of the Executive stressed on the occasion the importance of cooperation with American companies for the assessment and development of the capabilities of the national defense industry
Lockheed Martin is an important player in the global defense market, with which we want to expand collaboration to achieve complex projects in various fields, through the transfer of technology at the highest quality standards, stated the Head of the Executive.
This is the third day of the Prime Ministers visit to the USA together with a government delegation that includes the Minister of Defense, Angel Tilvăr, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Luminita Odobescu, and the Minister of Economy, Radu Oprea.
