Investors in opened funds exceed 755,000 in quarter 3, 2024

Over 755,000 people are investors in opened investment funds in Romania, in quarter 3, 2024, 200,000 more than in the same period of 2023, while active stock reached 26 billion lei, said Horia Gusta, the president of the Association of Fund Administrators (AAF).   In his turn, Jan Pricop, AAF CEO, pointed out the investment fund market in Romania had grown in quarter 3, 2024 compared to the same period of 2023, to 46 billion lei. “At present, we are in a recovery period compared to the end of 2022, especially in the segment of open investment funds. The market reached, at the end of quarter 3, 2024, 46 billion lei, of which about 26 billion of net active stock of open investment funds. Quarterly, compared to 2023, we had a 37% increase, compared to the previous quarter, we have an increase of at least 6%, with active stock of 26 billion lei, starting quarter 3 with 1.27 billion lei, which are by 300% higher than in the same period of 2023. Another important increase, of 52.4% was at the level of diversified funds. Bond funds and instruments with fixed income had an important rise, as they had the highest share in the whole segment. Their rise was 24.4% in total, while the market level increase of funds opened was 37% against quarter 3, 2023 in the segment of open investment funds, stock funds representing 25%. At European level, this segment has a share of 33%, while in the US it is 55%. Somehow we are going towards the European percentage and maybe we will also get close to the US market structure,” Pricop said.   The number of investors, in quarterly evolution in Romania recorded an additional 37% from one year to another, with a notable increase of 74.25% with stock investment funds, where the level of 100,000 investors was reached, from 64,000, in quarter 3, 2023.   “Another notable increase is at the level of diversified investment funds, where we have a plus of 42% and a total number of 184,000 investors.Bond funds and fixed income instruments remained popular. We have about 279,000 investors. There is also an absolute increase at diversified fund level, with a plus of over 54,000 investors, about 48,000 additional investors in bond shares, compared to last year , while we have over 71,000 investors in other funds. As for net quarterly subscriptions there is a drop against quarter 2, 2024. At the same time we notice that compared to quarter 3, 2023, we have four times higher net subscriptions of 1.27 billion lei”, he added.   BVB and the Association of Fund Administrators (AAF), organized on Tuesday, a debate on the performance of investment funds at the end of quarter 3, 2024 and 2025 prospects.
