On Wednesday, President Klaus Iohannis will take part in the solemn joint plenary meeting of the House and Senate, dedicated to the celebration of the Centenary of the Great Union. The event will start at 2 p.m. according to the Presidential Administration. The Head of State’s presence at the solemn meeting is included in the official agenda posted on the Presidency’s website. Wednesday’s joint plenary meeting will start with the national anthem, followed by President Klaus Iohannis’s speech. Senate Speaker Calin Popescu Tariceanu, House Speaker Liviu Dragnea, Prime Minister Viorica Dancila, Her Majesty Margareta, Custodian of the Crown of Romania, and representatives of the parliamentary groups will also give speeches. ALDE President Calin Popescu Tariceanu stated last week that he will most likely take part in the solemn meeting marking 100 years since the Great Union, on November 28, pointing out that it is a solemn day. “It is a solemn day, it is the National Day, we mark 100 years since the Great Union and this means very much to me, including the obligation to take part in this event,” Tariceanu stated last Wednesday at the Palace of Parliament. Former Romanian Presidents Ion Iliescu, Emil Constantinescu and Traian Basescu, the members of Government, and the heads of the diplomatic missions to Bucharest have been invited at the solemn meeting. Likewise, invitations were also extended to: His Royal Highness Prince Radu, the Presidents of the Constitutional Court, High Court of Cassation and Justice, Court of Accounts, Romanian Academy, Legislative Council, the Ombudsman, the Governor of the National Bank of Romania, and the Patriarch of the Romanian Orthodox Church.
