Josep Borell, the high EU representative for foreign policy declared on Thursday in Iasi, following his visit Chisinau, that Romania and Moldova should be backed because they receive refugees from Ukraine. Borell pointed out that EU offers material support, besides the political and diplomatic one, in conditions of a high flow of refugees. He said that attention should be paid to how Moldova is handling things. Support, shelter, food and everything else must be ensured. About 120,000 refugees have come from Ukraine, most of them left but 50,000 still remained. The same number is found in Romania. Both countries should be backed because they receive the refugees. EU is doing everything to ensure support, considering that one million refugees are at the border, Borell declared. The high EU representative considers that Russia's attack on Ukraine is a brutal one and that even forbidden bombs according to international conventions have been used. Josep Borell was in Chisinau on Thursday and had talks with Moldova's officials about the military crisis in the area. As Moldova's airspace is closed, Borell went by plane to Iasi and then by car to Chisinau.
