JusMin Marinescu at OECD Working Group: Measures adopted to strengthen public integrity

   Justice Minister Radu Marinescu presented on Friday to the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) Working Group for Public Integrity the recent legislative reform regarding pre and post-employment restrictions in public institutions and authorities, also referring to the measures adopted to strengthen public integrity, guided by the implementation of the National Anti-corruption Strategy.Radu Marinescu took part in the meeting of the OECD Working Group for Public Integrity, a subsidiary body of the Public Governance Committee."The participation in the OECD meeting took place in the context of presenting the progress achieved by Romania in relation to the priority recommendations on strengthening transparency in the decision-making process and managing conflicts of interest. Within the meeting, the Justice Minister presented the recent legislative reform regarding pre and post-employment restrictions in public institutions and authorities. He also referred to the measures adopted to strengthen public integrity, guided by the implementation of the National Anti-corruption Strategy," according to a post on the Ministry of Justice's Facebook page.According to the quoted source, the Organisation will place emphasis on continuing the implementation of the adopted reform measures, which are on a good track, in agreement with the OECD principles and standards."The OECD appreciated the substantial progress made by Romania, which has demonstrated firm political commitment at the highest level to strengthening public integrity and transparency," the Justice Ministry mentioned.On the sidelines of the meeting, Minister Radu Marinescu took part in a working discussion with Elsa Pilichowski, the Director of the Directorate for Public Governance (GOV) at the OECD.Romania's delegation was made up of President of the Senate Mircea Abrudean, the Secretary General of the Government Radu Oprea, Chairperson of the Joint Special Committee of the Chamber of Deputies and the Senate on Supporting Romania's Accession Process to the OECD Violeta Alexandru, the National Coordinator for Romania's OECD accession and State Secretary with the Foreign Affairs Ministry (MAE) Luca Niculescu, experts from the Justice Ministry, the Secretariat General of the Government, the National Integrity Agency and the OECD coordination team within the MAE.
