Luminita Odobescu, in official visit to Berlin, condemned Russian Federation attacks on Ukrainian Danube ports

The minister of foreign affairs, Luminita Odobescu paid an official visit to Berlin, where she had meetings with the German counterpart, Annalena Baerbock and the advisdr for European Affairs of the Federal German chancellor, Undine Ruge, the head of the Romanian diplomacy condemning again the attacks of the Russian Federation against the population and the civil infrastructure, including of the Ukrainian ports on the Danube, in the vicinity of the border with our country.According to a press release issued by the Romanian Foreign Ministry(MAE), Odobescu stressed , during the conversation with his German counterpart, the importance of developing a solid economic relationship between the two countries, underlining the need to boost joint economic projects and to exploit the German investment potential in important areas of the Romanian economy: infrastructure, energy, agriculture and food industry, circular economy, digitalization, defense industry.   The discussions highlighted the need for the two countries to coordinate their positions on topical issues on the European and international agenda, given the multiple crises generated by Russia's war of aggression in Ukraine, the MFA added.   Minister Odobescu presented, during the meetings, the Romanian side's efforts to facilitate Ukrainian grain exports, especially to the most vulnerable regions of the globe.   Luminita Odobescu mentioned when referring to the attacks during the night of 3rd September to 4th September that the means used by the Russian Federation did not generate direct military threats at the address of the national territory or the territorial waters of Romania.She informed that the Ministry of National Defence has taken measures of enhanced vigilance in the national land, sea and air space and is contributing to strengthening the defence and deterrence posture on the Eastern Flank, according to national and allied plans. At the same time, the Romanian minister called for continued consistent European support for Moldova to strengthen its resilience in the face of current threats, including through the Support Platform for Moldova, an initiative launched by Romania, Germany and France.   Romania's accession to the Schengen area was also on the agenda, the MAE added.   According to the source, Luminita Odobescu mentioned the state of play of the Romanian side, and the head of the German diplomacy and the European affairs advisor to the Federal Chancellor reiterated Germany's firm support for achieving this major objective of Romania.
