MAE exhibition with archive documents, celebrating 140 years of Romanian-Russian diplomatic relations

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MAE) hosted on Monday an exhibition with archive documents, highlighting the most important moments in the history of the Romanian-Russian bilateral relations, on the 140th anniversary since the establishment of diplomatic relations. State Secretary for Inter-Institutional Relations with the Romanian Foreign Ministry (MAE) Maria Magdalena Grigore officially inaugurated the exhibition. According to a press release sent by MAE to AGERPRES, in her speech, the state secretary brought to mind the main moments in the bilateral history, such as the Russian-Romanian-Turkish War, Romania achieving its independence and the establishment of the diplomatic relations between the Romanian state and the Russian Empire. In context, she underlined that the development of the bilateral relations “need to be based on a constructive and pragmatic agenda, that must take into account the interests of each party, in full respect of the fundamental principles and the provisions of the international law, for the establishment of a regional and international environment marked by stability and predictability.” The Ambassador of the Russian Federation in Bucharest, Valeri Kuzmin, attended the event, as well as Russian and Romanian diplomats, representatives of the academic environment interested in the history of the Romanian-Russian relations. The Romanian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Teodor Melelescanu and his Russian counterpart, Serghei Lavrov, Monday exchanged messages of commendation for the 140th anniversary since the two countries’ diplomatic relations were established.
