July 21, 2025

Revolut, licensed bank and financial investment company with over 55 million customers globally, announced new developments in the team of the Revolut Bank UAB Romanian branch, continuing to strengthen its presence as a primary bank account for its over 4.5 million clients in Romania.   Gabriela Simion, the General Manager of RBUAB Vilnius Sucursala Bucure?ti, has recently  stepped  into a new role at group level, leading the Global Credit Insurance business. She joined Revolut in 2021 and played a key role in launching both the company’s credit products and the RBUAB local branch last year.   Gianmaria Scocca, who has been recently appointed member of the board of RBUAB, will oversee the operations of the RBUAB Vilnius Sucursala Bucure?ti. He will also supervise the local team ensuring robust operational oversight and risk management, as well as collaborate with product teams to expand existing new features and services while localizing requirements.   Revolut Bank UAB Romania Branch has appointed Tamer Nurla as the Deputy Branch Manager. Tamer joined the Revolut team in 2024 as the Operations Manager of the local branch, being responsible for the rollout of the integrations of the bank’s operations with the local schemes Regis and TRANSFOND.   Revolut, which is one of the most downloaded banking apps in Europe, is committed to increasing its presence across Europe with the opening of local branches, which have already launched in markets like Romania, France, Ireland, Spain, Netherlands, Germany, and Belgium, and are expected to be followed by others in 2025.   This significant advancement enables customers to designate Revolut as their main account, presenting a robust alternative to conventional banking. The introduction of local IBANs supported Revolut’s usability and facilitated a wider range of customer services, simultaneously improving security via local regulatory supervision.   In Romania, Revolut operates as a fully digital bank and offers services to over 4.5 million retail clients. The retail customer base grew by 28% last year, achieving a 25% nationwide penetration rate, with higher concentrations in major urban centers and tourist hotspots like Bucharest (44%) and Constanta (30%). Revolut Business also experienced significant growth, with its customer base increasing by 116% last year.
