Maramures : Tourism and agriculture, two domains affected the sanitary crisis as well as by a market in contraction

Agriculture and rural tourism had between 2019 and 2020 a slight decrease, the effect being a drop in the market demand, as well as the sanitary crisis created by the pandemics, considers in a public report the chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry Maramures (CCI), Floretin Tus, present on Friday on the web page of the institution.The main agricultural crops in the Maramures county, with average production/ha superior to the national and regional averages: grains, sun flower and fodder corn. The main species of fruit trees, plums, cherries and sour cherries, nuts and other fruits. The main categories of animals in the Maramures county with superior values to the regional and national averages, reported to the number of animals/100 ha land: cattle, cows, female buffalos, heifers, swine, breeding sows.Similarly, the capacity for touristic accommodation is dropping significantly at the level of the county, regional and national, reported to the previous years, due to the restrictions imposed by the authorities in the sanitary international context. Reported to the overnights in touristic units, Maramures was placed 17th in 2020 at national level, for foreign tourists, and 16th for Romanian tourists. As regards the comparison with 2019, the total number of overnights of the tourists was half both at national level (14 million vs.28 million) as well as at the level of the county (251,000 vs.518, 000).According to the same report of CCI Maramures, in 2020, the volume of timber made at the level of the Maramures county was lower than the previous year (the second year of decrease). 2018 was the year of maximum volume of logged timber, reported to the period 1990 – 2018, both at national and regional level. In Maramures only in 1990 there were the values of 2018 (809 thousand mc vs. 731 thousand mc) surpassed.
