Meeting between Minister Aurescu and his Pakistani counterpart on sidelines of World Economic Forum in Davos

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Bogdan Aurescu, had a meeting on Tuesday with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum in Davos.The Romanian minister presented the efforts that Romania is making in support of Ukraine, of the Ukrainian citizens who took refuge in Romania, but also in the sense of facilitating, through the Port of Constanta and the Danube River, the Ukrainian grain exports to third countries, through the transiting of the Romanian territory in order to contribute to strengthening global food security, especially in the Middle East, Africa and Asia, according to a Foreign Ministry (MAE) release .In the context of the crisis in Ukraine, Pakistani Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari thanked Romania for its support in the evacuation of Pakistani citizens from Ukraine, including the staff of the Pakistani Embassy in Kyiv, and praised Romania's humanitarian efforts. In his turn, the Romanian foreign minister reiterated the thanks of the Romanian side for Pakistan's support for the evacuation of Romanian and Afghan citizens from Afghanistan last year.The two ministers also discussed the situation in Afghanistan, with the Pakistani minister presenting his assessment of the country's economic, social and security challenges and possible solutions.
