Minister Odobescu at OECD Council

Foreign minister Luminita Odobescu pointed out the importance of sustained development of Romania's foreign policy, at the Ministerial Meeting of OECD Council.   According to a Foreign Ministry press release, Luminita Odobescu participated on Thursday and Friday in the annual meeting of OECD Ministerial Council, held at the Paris headquarters of the organization.   “The works were chaired by Japan, together with exico and the Netherlands, as vicepresidents. The event gathered representatives of OECD member states, of candidate abd partner states, as well as of international organizations and institutions,”the press release shows.   The Romanian minister held the chair at the session devoted to durable development, the main message of her speech being to point out Romania's contribution to OECD efforts in this respect and to reiterate Romania's engagement to join the organization. The minister presented the main landmarks of the approach promoted by Romania, which plead to concentrate world efforts on three essential dimensions, that is improving the coherence of policies for durable development, supporting developing states, including the mobilization of private financing and the promotion of partnerships.   Minister Odobescu pointed out, on that occasion, Romania's contribution in promoting OECD priorities at regional and global level, evoking the progress recorded by Romania in this respect, with accent on the activity of the OECD Development Assistance Committee (DAC).   The Foreign Ministry points out that the event enabled talks with OECD General Secretary Mathias Cormann. The foreign minister reiterated Romania's engagement to successfully complete the accession process in the perspective of obtaining the member status in 2026. Cormann appreciated Romania's sustained rate in the present stage of technical evaluation and pointed out the support the organization was ready to offer to all 26 committees that evaluate Romania.   The OECD Council Ministerial Conference is the summit annual meeting of the organization. Foreign ministers, ministers of economy, finance and trade or other government representatives of member states together with guests of candidate states as well as OECD partner countries and international organizations.
