Romania officially submitted on Friday evening its fifth payment request under the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (NRRP), worth a total of 2.84 billion euros, interim Minister of Investments and European Projects Dragos Pislaru announced."Last night, at 8:00 pm, Romania officially submitted its fifth payment request under the NRRP, worth a total of 2.84 billion euros. Payment Request 5 includes 75 targets and milestones (21 reforms and 54 investments), totalling a net 1.65 billion euros in non-reimbursable European funding (grants) and 433 million euros under the loan component. This is the penultimate payment request under the NRRP. With this submission, we reach 78% absorption on the grant component. When I took office last year, we were at 47% - accumulated over four and a half years," Pislaru wrote on his Facebook page on Saturday.According to Pislaru, in the past year, absorption of the funds increased by 31 percentage points, while Romania's full allocation of 13.57 billion euros in grants was preserved."After the payment request was submitted by my colleagues at the Ministry of Investments and European Projects (whom I thank once again), I went to the Ministry of Labour, where I stayed with the team until after midnight to work on the draft law on the unified pay system. I would also like to thank my colleagues at the Ministry of Labour," said Pislaru, who is also serving as interim minister of Labour.Romania's National Recovery and Resilience Plan is financed with 21.41 billion euros, of which 13.57 billion euros are grants and 7.84 billion euros are loans.
