At end-August 2025, broad money (M3) amounted to RON 751,138.0 million, down 0.1 percent (-2.2 percent in real terms1) month on month. In year-on-year comparison, broad money rose by 8.3 percent (-1.4 percent in real terms), the Central Bank informs. At end-August 2025, loans to non-government sector granted by credit institutions increased 0.4 percent (-1.7 percent in real terms) from July 2025 to RON 440,650.6 million. RON-denominated loans, representing 69.3 percent of total volume of loans to non-government sector, grew by 0.2 percent, whilst foreign currency-denominated loans, holding 30.7 percent of total loans to non-government sector, picked up by 0.7 percent when expressed in RON (similar evolution when expressed in EUR). In year-on-year comparison, loans to non-government sector advanced 8.0 percent (-1.7 percent in real terms), on the back of the 7.5 percent increase in RON-denominated loans (-2.2 percent in real terms) and the 9.3 percent rise in foreign currency-denominated loans expressed in RON (7.1 percent when expressed in EUR). At end-August 2025, credit to general government granted by credit institutions increased 0.8 percent from July 2025, to RON 256,112.8 million. In year-on-year comparison, this indicator grew by 16.3 percent (5.8 percent in real terms). Deposits of non-government resident customers declined by 0.4 percent month on month to RON 632,656.1 million, while the annual growth rate was 7.0 percent (-2.6 percent in real terms). RON-denominated deposits of residents, representing 68.0 percent of deposits of non government customers, grew by 0.4 percent to RON 430,392.6 million month on month. In year-on-year comparison, they advanced 3.0 percent (-6.3 percent in real terms). RON-denominated household deposits increased 0.1 percent to RON 252,018.2 million month on month and grew by 6.2 percent (-3.3 percent in real terms) year on year. RON-denominated deposits of other sectors (non-financial corporations and non-monetary financial institutions) rose by 0.9 percent (to RON 178,374.4 million) month on month and went down 1.3 percent (-10.2 percent in real terms) year on year. Foreign currency-denominated deposits of residents, representing 32.0 percent of the total volume of deposits of non-government customers, decreased 2.0 percent against July 2025 to RON 202,263.4 million when expressed in domestic currency (similar evolution when expressed in EUR). Compared to August 2024, this indicator grew by 16.6 percent when expressed in RON (14.2 percent when expressed in EUR). Foreign currency-denominated deposits of households advanced 0.3 percent from July 2025 to RON 139,372.7 million when expressed in domestic currency (when expressed in EUR, these deposits rose by 0.4 percent to EUR 27,455.0 million). In year-on-year comparison, the indicator increased 16.7 percent when expressed in RON (14.4 percent when expressed in EUR). Foreign currency-denominated deposits of other sectors declined by 6.8 percent against July 2025 to RON 62,890.8 million when expressed in domestic currency (similar evolution when expressed in EUR). Compared to August 2024, the indicator rose by 16.3 percent when expressed in RON (14.0 percent when expressed in EUR).
