Monetary indicators - September 2025

At end-September 2025, broad money (M3) amounted to RON 753,293.5 million, up 0.3 percent month on month. In year-on-year comparison, broad money rose by 7.9 percent (-1.8 percent in real terms).   At end-September 2025, loans to non-government sector granted by credit institutions increased 0.8 percent (0.4 percent in real terms) from August 2025 to RON 444,033.6 million. RON-denominated loans, representing 69.1 percent of total volume of loans to non-government sector, grew by 0.5 percent, whilst foreign currency-denominated loans, holding 30.9 percent of total loans to non-government sector, picked up by 1.3 percent when expressed in RON (1.1 percent when expressed in EUR).   In year-on-year comparison, loans to non-government sector advanced 7.5 percent (-2.2 percent in real terms), on the back of the 6.5 percent increase in RON-denominated loans (-3.1 percent in real terms) and the 9.7 percent rise in foreign currency-denominated loans expressed in RON (7.5 percent when expressed in EUR).   At end-September 2025,credit to general government granted by credit institutions increased 0.7 percent from August 2025, to RON 257,819.5 million. In year-on-year comparison, this indicator grew by 15.9 percent (5.5 percent in real terms). Deposits of non-government resident customers rose by 0.3 percent month on month to RON 634,775.0 million, while the annual growth rate was 6.7 percent (-2.9 percent in real terms).   RON-denominated deposits of residents, representing 68.2 percent of deposits of non government customers, grew by 0.6 percent to RON 433,179.6 million month on month. In year-on-year comparison, they advanced 2.9 percent (-6.4 percent in real terms).   RON-denominated household deposits increased 0.1 percent to RON 252,327.9 million month on month and grew by 5.2 percent (-4.2 percent in real terms) year on year.   RON-denominated deposits of other sectors (non-financial corporations and non-monetary financial institutions) rose by 1.4 percent (to RON 180,851.7 million) month on month and went down 0.3 percent (-9.2 percent in real terms) year on year.   Foreign currency-denominated deposits of residents, representing 31.8 percent of the total volume of deposits of non-government customers, decreased 0.3 percent against August 2025 to RON 201,595.4 million when expressed in domestic currency (when expressed in EUR, these deposits went down 0.5 percent to EUR 39,675.5 million). Compared to September 2024, this indicator grew by 15.9 percent when expressed in RON (13.5 percent when expressed in EUR).   Foreign currency-denominated deposits of households declined by 0.5 percent from August 2025 to RON 138,714.8 million when expressed in domestic currency (when expressed in EUR, these deposits decreased 0.6 percent to EUR 27,300.2 million). In year-on-year comparison, the indicator increased 16.0 percent when expressed in RON (13.6 percent when expressed in EUR).   Foreign currency-denominated deposits of other sectors, when expressed in domestic currency, remained practically unchanged compared with August 2025, recording a marginal decrease of 0.01 percent, to RON 62,880.6 million (when expressed in EUR, these deposits decreased 0.2 percent to EUR 12,375.4 million). Compared to September 2024, the indicator rose by 15.8 percent when expressed in RON (13.4 percent when expressed in EUR).
