More than 40,000 firms were struck off the register nationwide in the first five months of 2024

A total of 40,026 firms were deregistered nationwide in the first five months of 2024, 37.88% more than in the same period in 2023, according to statistics from the National Trade Register Office (ONRC). The most cancellations were recorded in Bucharest, 6,056 (up 33.69% compared to January-May 2023) and in Cluj (1,999, +41.67%), Dâmbovita (1,680, +98.82%), Timis (1,588, +21.41%) and Constanta (1,502, +13.19%) counties.   A total of 40,026 firms were deregistered nationwide in the first five months of 2024, 37.88% more than in the same period in 2023, according to statistics from the National Trade Register Office (ONRC). The most cancellations were recorded in Bucharest, 6,056 (up 33.69% compared to January-May 2023) and in Cluj (1,999, +41.67%), Dâmbovita (1,680, +98.82%), Timis (1,588, +21.41%) and Constanta (1,502, +13.19%) counties.   At the opposite pole, the fewest cancellations were recorded in the counties of C?l?rasi (261, up 4.82% compared to the first five months of last year), Ialomita (277, +59.20%), Covasna (303, +38.99%) and Giurgiu (304, +35.71%). The most significant increases in the number of write-offs were recorded in Harghita (+99.71%), Dâmbovita (+98.82%) and Maramures (+93.%) counties. No county recorded a decrease in the number of write-offs at the end of May.   By sector of activity, the highest number of strike-offs was recorded in wholesale and retail trade, repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles, respectively 9,111 (+22.31%, compared to the same period in 2023), agriculture, forestry and fishing (4,683, +91.06%) and information and communication (3,334, +33.63%). At the opposite pole, the fewest cancellations were recorded in the counties of C?l?rasi (261, up 4.82% compared to the first five months of last year), Ialomita (277, +59.20%), Covasna (303, +38.99%) and Giurgiu (304, +35.71%).
