National Bank of Romania's foreign exchange reserves fell by almost 11% in May, to 55.661 billion euros

The foreign exchange reserves of the National Bank of Romania totaled 55.661 billion euros at the end of May 2025, down 10.81% compared to the level of 62.414 billion euros on April 30, 2025, according to a press release from the Central Bank, transmitted on Monday.During May, there were inflows of 5.827 billion euros, representing the change in the minimum foreign exchange reserves established by credit institutions at the NBR, the replenishment of the accounts of the Ministry of Finance and others.The gold reserve level remained at 103.6 tons. In the conditions of international price developments, its value stood at 9.698 billion euros.Romania's international reserves (currency plus gold) on May 31, 2025 were 65.359 billion euros, compared to 72.025 billion euros on April 30, 2025.Payments due in June 2025 on the account of public debt denominated in foreign currency, direct or guaranteed by the Ministry of Finance, amount to approximately 87 million euros.
