National Museum of Art of Romania hosting lecture and a live musical demonstration on guqin

The National Museum of Art of Romania hosted the cultural event "Conversation and Connection - Music Unites the World" on Thursday.According to a press release from MNAR, the event, dedicated to the International Day for Dialogue Among Civilisations, includes a guided tour of the China Room in the Oriental Art Gallery, followed by a lecture and a live musical demonstration performed on the guqin, a traditional instrument.The event, presented by two renowned artists from China, Wang Peng and Liu Xiaogang, is organised in partnership with the Embassy of the People's Republic of China to Romania.Admission will be granted in the order of registration, based on a prior reservation via [email protected] and with a valid entry ticket to the Oriental Art Gallery, priced at 24 lei.Recognised by UNESCO as part of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, the guqin is a seven-string zither with a history of over 3,000 years. Once regarded as a refined pursuit of ancient Chinese scholars - alongside calligraphy, painting, and the game of Go - the guqin remains a powerful symbol of Chinese philosophy and aesthetics.Wang Peng, a renowned guqin performer, luthier and composer, is appreciated for his precise and refined technique, with his music focusing on meditative introspection and emotional depth.Liu Xiaogang blends the guqin, bamboo flute, improvisation and visual art into a unique and transcultural expression. He has performed at prestigious international festivals across five continents and has collaborated with artists worldwide on various musical and multimedia projects.
