Net average salary increases by 70 RON in September, up to 5,228 Ron

   The net average salary increased by 70 RON (1.4pct) in September this year, up to 5,228 RON, according to data published on Tuesday by the National Institute of Statistics (INS).The gross average salary was 8,553 lei, by 110 RON (+1.3pct) higher than in August 2024.The highest values of the net average salary were recorded in information technology services (11,626 RON), and the lowest in manufacture of clothing (3,016 RON).In September 2024, in most activities in the economic sector the level of the average net salary increased compared to August 2024, as a result of the granting of occasional bonuses (quarterly, annual bonuses, for special performances or for "Oilman's Day"), rights in kind and monetary aid, amounts from the net profit and from other funds (including securities). Also, the increases in the net average salary were due to production achievements or higher receipts (depending on the contracts/projects), according to the INS.The most significant increases in the net average salary earnings were recorded in the extraction of crude oil and natural gas, by 13.3pct, and in the manufacture of coke oven products and products obtained from crude oil processing, by 12.7pct.At the opposite side of the scale, the decreases in the average net salary were determined by the granting, in the previous months, of occasional bonuses, rights in kind and monetary aid, amounts from the net profit and from other funds (including securities). Also, the decreases in the average net salary were determined by production failures or lower receipts (depending on the contracts/projects).The most significant decreases in the net average salary earnings were recorded in activities auxiliary to financial services, insurance activities and pension funds - minus 11.6pct.Compared to September of the previous year, the net average salary increased by 13.8pct.The real salary earnings index was 108.8pct in September 2024 compared to September 2023 and 101.1pct compared to August 2024.Compared to October 1990, the index of real salary earnings was 251.2pct, 2.5 percentage points higher than the one recorded in August 2024.
