Nicusor Dan: Monday morning I will meet leaders of parties from the former coalition

August 6, 2026

President Nicusor Dan said that he would "very likely" meet with the leaders of the parties from the former governing coalition on Monday.Nicusor Dan was asked on Wednesday in Ankara, at the end of the NATO Summit, whether he will meet with the political parties on Monday."Yes. I asked my colleagues starting yesterday to call the leaders, so that they can see when there is a moment when everyone's agenda allows us to all meet in the format that you know, the former coalition, and very likely on Monday morning we will meet in this formula", he said. The president mentioned that during this period he had discussions "with everyone", and the party leaders informed him about the discussions they had among themselves."At this moment, strictly at this moment, I do not feel that a solution is emerging. (...) At Monday's meeting I want each of the leaders to say what is the majority solution they see and I will ask them not to tell not only me, but to tell you too, because they have the main responsibility", stated the head of state.   President Nicusor Dan stated at a press conference in Ankara on Wednesday that leaders attending the NATO Summit had asked him?with "curiosity"?about the political situation in the country.Journalists asked him whether he had been questioned about the country's political crisis and the presence of interim ministers in the Romanian delegation. "Yes?not with concern, but with curiosity," the head of state replied. The President noted that Romania is not the only allied state facing such a situation of political tension. "We are 'on trend'," he added.Nicusor Dan stated that he had conveyed to his interlocutors that Romania is maintaining its pro-Western path.
