Nicusor Dan: Time to start a new chapter in bilateral relationship with Austria

President Nicusor Dan declared on Friday in Salzburg that it is time for "a new chapter" to open in the bilateral relationship with Austria."After a relatively tense period between our countries, it is time to start a new chapter in our bilateral relationship," the Romanian head of state told a joint press statement delivered together with his Austrian counterpart Alexander Van der Bellen.He specified that their talks focused on the Danube region, which provides an economic opportunity for the riverside countries, on the bilateral economic relationship, as well as on the Romanian community, which is well integrated in the Austrian society. "All Romanian workers should enjoy full protection of their rights," the president went on to say.Nicusor Dan and Alexander Van der Bellen also discussed the Black Sea region, as well as support for Ukraine. În this context, president Nicusor Dan declared that "for the moment, there is no discussion" about Romania handing over a new Patriot system to Ukraine."Support for Ukraine will continue, including in the military area, but handing over a new Patriot system is not under discussion for the moment," the Romanian head of state said during a joint press conference with his Austrian counterpart Alexander Van der Bellen.
