Nine companies represent Romania at this year's Paris Air Show

July 17, 2025

Nine companies represent Romania at the Paris Air Show taking place in Le Bourget June 16 - 22, with president of the Romanian Aeronautical Industry Employers' Organization (OPIAR) Mihail Nicolae Toncea stating that the Romanian presence at this year's edition is significant, and the turnover of this sector is on a steady upward trend."Romania has participated since the 1970s in all editions of the Le Bourget aeronautical fair, where we are also present today, under the national flag. All these activities have left their mark and contributed to the development of the Romanian aeronautical industry. Nine Romanian companies participate in the current event - Aerostar, Aerofina, Aerospace, Alro, GM&T International, Oves, Olstral, Straero and Zirom. (...) We are a vibrant industry that is constantly on the rise and has very high growth prospects, at a rate that I would estimate at 10% per year," Mihail Toncea said on Thursday. The OPIAR president mentioned that the 2023 turnover of Romania's aeronautical industry was approximately one billion euros, and last year it went up even further."In 2023, the turnover topped one billion dollars, having advanced in recent years at an annual rate of about 10%, 10-12%. The turnover of about 1 billion dollars in 2023 is due to the new investments made in Dumbravita - Maramures County, in Moldovenesti - Cluj County, in Brasov. This year will see another investment by a prestigious EU company, we are very attractive due to our tradition. There are some 10,000 people employed in this top-tech industry," said Toncea. The representative of the Romanian aeronautical industry's umbrella organization said that more than 10,000 aircraft parts are produced in Romanian facilities, including wing parts, floors, landing gear components."We are first-tier suppliers for Airbus, which is the major point of attraction. We produce over 10,000 parts, various assemblies and subassemblies, wing parts, landing gear components, floors; many parts are small, but there is a trend towards increasingly important elements, with higher added value. (...) We are a very appealing market because we are in the European Union, the products arrive immediately, the likelihood of unexpected blockages or embargoes is almost nil. (...) We are achieving results and we will grow at this rate of about 10%, which is very high, very ambitious," Toncea also pointed out.The Paris Air Show, which takes place every two years at Le Bourget, north of Paris, is the prime meeting place for the global aerospace industry. The 55th edition of the event, which this year focuses on space technologies and unmanned aerial systems, showcases approximately 2,400 exhibitors from 48 countries on an exhibition space of 70 hectares, roughly the equivalent of 100 football fields.
