Nine out of ten Romanians were mentally affected by the situation in Ukraine

The situation in Ukraine affected mentally 90% of the Romanians and changed the routine of 70%, according to a study developed online in  the campaign ‘Health Insurance Month’ with 2,105 participantsThus, only 13% of the participants to the survey stated that the situation in Ukraine did not affect them mentally. In exchange, 34% estimate that they were affected negatively ‘in a certain measure’, 27% - in a reduced measure and 19% -  in an important measure by the conflict in the neigbouring country. 36% of respondents also estimate that their daily routine or healthy habits have been affected to a small extent, 30% - to some extent, and 11% - largely by this. 26% of respondents said they were not affected at all by the conflict in Ukraine. The Romanians' mental state was also affected by the COVID-19 pandemic: Only 12% of respondents said that the COVID-19 pandemic did not affect their mental state at all. 32% estimate that they were negatively affected "to some extent", 30% -- to a small extent, and 24% -- to a large extent.   The study on individual health was conducted online from 1 to 11 March 2022 and covered both physical and mental health issues.   Thus, on average, 16% of Romanians say they eat healthy and 60% quite healthy. In contrast, 20% estimate that they do not eat very healthy, and 3% do not eat at all healthy. Most Romanians consume 1-2 types of raw fruit or vegetables a day (36% of respondents), while 24% eat 2-3 types. 16% consume fruit and vegetables only in a cooked form, while 12% say they do not include any fruit or vegetables in their daily diet. As for the movement, on average, 18% of Romanians say that they are not moving at all every day (less than 2.000 steps), while at the opposite pole, for 8% of them, the daily movement is of intense level. 27% daily make a satisfactory level of motion, equivalent to 5.000 steps, 24%, a low level (between 2.000 and 5.000 steps) and 23%, an average level equivalent to 10.000 steps. 51% of respondents believe that their daily movement is sufficient for their needs. In terms of sleep quality, on average 42% of respondents estimate good sleep quality, while 25% consider it satisfactory and 22% very good. 9% have poor sleep quality and 3% have very poor sleep quality.   On average, 48% of respondents say they are in good physical health, 26% are satisfactory and 18% are very good. On the other hand, 6% assess their health status as unsatisfactory and 2% as weak. Also, 48% of respondents have a good mental health status, 22% are satisfactory and 24% are very good. On the other hand, 4% assess their health status as unsatisfactory and 2% as weak. The national financial education and information campaign "Health Insurance month" is initiated by APPA - the Association for Insurance promotion, and the 2022 edition was conducted with the support of UNSAR - the national Union of Insurance and reinsurance companies of Romania.
