The number of building permits for residential buildings issued in first quarter of this year reached 7,422, dropping by 7.2% against Q1 2023, according to the data published on Monday by the National Institute for Statistics (INS).Thus, decreases were recorded in the development regions: Centru (-331 permits), North-West (-157), South-Muntenia (-75), South-East (-35), North-East (-16) and Bucharest-Ilfov (-2), and increases in the development regions South-West Oltenia (+26 permits) and West (+16). In March 2024, 3,037 building permits were issued for residential buildings (+18.8% compared to February 2024), with a total usable area of 70,1531 sq.m (+10.4%). Of the total building permits for residential buildings, 70.9% are for rural areas. According to INS data, in March 2024 there is an increase in the number of building permits issued for residential buildings compared to the previous month (+481 permits). In territorial profile, this increase is reflected in all development regions: North-West (+127 permits), South-Muntenia (+89), South-East (+76), Centre (+74), North-East (+63), West (+21), Bucharest-Ilfov (+19) and South-West Oltenia (+12). Also in March 2024, 598 building permits for non-residential buildings were issued (+17.3% compared to February 2024), with a total usable area of 321,477 sq.m (+44.3%). Compared to the previous month, March this year saw an increase in the usable area of building permits issued for non-residential buildings (+98,623 sq.m). In territorial profile, this increase is recorded in the development regions: Centre (+47,198 sqm), North-East (+23,092), Bucharest-Ilfov (+17,706), South-West Oltenia (+14,169) and South-East (+10,568). Decreases were also recorded in the development regions: North-West (-6,781 sqm), West (-6,166 sqm) and South-Muntenia (-1,163 sqm). Compared to the same month of 2023, in March 2024 there is a drop both in the number of building permits issued for residential buildins (-9.2%) and the total usable area (-16%).At the level of the territory, this drop in the number of building permits issued for residential buildings (-309 permits) is reflected in all development regions: Centre (-121 permits), Bucuresti-Ilfov (-52), North-East (-39), South-East (-35), South- Muntenia (-25), West (-24), North-West (-11) and South-West Oltenia (-2). In March 2024, there was a decrease in the number of building permits issued for non-residential buildings (-10.2%) and .2%an increase in total floor area (+17.8%) compared to the same period last year. In territorial profile, this increase in usable floor area for building permits issued for non-residential buildings (+48,495 sqm) is recorded in the following development regions: Centre (+33. 374 sq.m), Bucharest-Ilfov (+28,540), West (+27,603), North-West (+11,912) and North-East (+8,513). Decreases were recorded in: South-East (-44,704 sq.m), South-Muntenia (-11,791) and South-West Oltenia (-4,952).
