The number of insolvency cases rose by approximately 26% in June 2026 compared with the same period last year, surpassing the threshold of 900 cases nationwide, according to financial analysis platform RisCo.Data published by RisCo show that Bucharest remained the county with the highest number of companies facing financial difficulties, with 205 insolvency cases opened in June 2026.Compared with June 2025, when 190 insolvency cases were registered in the capital, the number increased by 8%.Ilfov County recorded 62 insolvency cases in June 2026, representing a 44% increase compared with the same period last year.According to the platform, Cluj County recorded a 73% rise in the number of insolvencies, reaching 52 cases, while Bihor County reported an increase of 36%. At the same time, Bistrita-Nasaud County recorded a 183% increase, Bacau County 81%, Timis County 72%, Maramures County 60%, and Iasi County 39%.There were, however, several counties where the number of insolvencies declined, the source notes. Buzau County recorded a 56% decrease, Caras-Severin County 50%, and Mehedinti County 40%. In addition, Salaj County reported a 33% decline, Galati County 29%, Olt County 27%, Dambovita and Giurgiu counties 25% each, Brasov County 22%, Sibiu County 17%, and Dolj County 16%.By sector of activity, residential and non-residential construction recorded an increase of approximately 74% in the number of insolvency cases, rising to 66 in June 2026 from 38 in the same month of 2025.Road freight transport and removal services reported an increase of around 110%, from 21 to 44 cases, while restaurants recorded a 72% rise.Electrical and plumbing installation works also saw a 200% increase, from 9 to 27 cases, while the cultivation of non-perennial crops recorded a 144% increase.
