Odobescu: The intensification of hybrid actions by Russia against the states in the region is visible

September 5, 2024

The intensification of hybrid actions on the part of Russia against the states in the region of our country is visible, said on Thursday the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Luminita Odobescu, who participated, in Brussels,at the informal Foreign Affairs Council. The Ukrainian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dmitro  Kuleba, was invited to the meeting.   'We have all seen Russia's constant attacks against the civil infrastructure, especially the energy infrastructure, and in this context Minister Kuleba once again emphasised the importance of air defence and the support of the member states for air defence' said Odobescu.   In this sense, she said that the unblocking of the European facility for peace remains 'crucial', meaning the reimbursements of military expenses for Ukraine, which ' have been blocked for over a year'.   'The topic of revision of the European Union's military assistance mission for Ukraine has been discussed, so it would be better adapted to the needs of Ukrainian armed forces' the head of the Romanian diplomacy said.   Luminita Odobescu mentioned the fact that Russia's massive attacks on civilian infrastructure,  on energy infrastructure required closer coordination. ' Romania will continue to support not only Ukraine, but also the Republic of Moldova for the management of difficulties in the energy sector' said Odobescu. At the same time, Odobescu said that the topic of isolating the Russian Federation through sanctions was also included in the agenda in the meeting. ' I mentioned the importance of adaptation of new sanctions, including a new regime against Moscow's destabilising actions. I refer to the hybrid actions against Ukraine, the Republic of Moldova but also against the member states namely the intensification of hybrid actions on the part of Russia against the states in our region' said Luminita Odobescu. She also mentioned the 'permanent' contact with the officials in Ukraine.   ' There is constant dialogue on different issues. This dialogue is also at a high level, at a sectoral level, the Ministries of Energy, the ministries of defense. It is very important to have close coordination because our support for Ukraine is consistent' Luminita Odobescu showed.
