OMV Petrom reports significant progress in implementing its 2030 Strategy, with around half of the record EUR 11 billion in investment planned by 2030 already made, supporting the advancement of its strategic projects."Our transformation is well under way. Since launching our 2030 Strategy in December 2021, we have invested EUR 5.4 billion to strengthen and diversify our business, expand our presence in Southeastern Europe and build new growth pillars. The projects currently under development are expected to support long-term growth and create value for all stakeholders," OMV Petrom CEO Christina Verchere said in a press release sent on Tuesday.According to the company, its portfolio of assets and projects gives it the flexibility to respond to market developments and the pace of the energy transition, while its strategic direction, investment plans and dividend policy remain unchanged."The Black Sea plays an essential role in regional energy security, and OMV Petrom's portfolio includes exploration, development and production activities in Romania and Bulgaria. In 2026, the Neptun Deep project made significant progress with the installation of the Neptun Alpha platform and advances in work on the offshore pipeline and production infrastructure, allowing us to confirm the timetable for first natural gas in the first half of 2027. Plateau production is expected to be reached by the end of Q3 2027 and to continue for almost 10 years," the press release said. The company plans to continue its offshore exploration activities, drilling two to three new wells in Romania and Bulgaria by 2030."Exploration and Production activities support the development of the entire value chain, from oil and natural gas to energy products for customers (fuels, natural gas and electricity). With some low-carbon technologies still maturing, local production is becoming a key element of security of supply and is benefiting from increased investment. This will also contribute to reaching hydrocarbon production of around 170,000 boe/day in 2030, with natural gas accounting for more than 70%," company representatives said. The Gas and Power division also draws on a complementary portfolio of assets. These include the 0.9 GW Brazi gas-fired power plant and a portfolio of renewable electricity projects exceeding 1.3 GW in Romania and Bulgaria, more than 0.7 GW of which is under construction. The new generation capacity, predominantly solar and wind, will come on stream gradually, with output expected to exceed 2.4 TWh in 2030. Around 50 MW of combined capacity was already operational at the end of August 2026."To optimise production and capture greater value across the value chain, the company has added electricity storage projects to its portfolio, targeting total capacity of more than 0.3 GW by 2030," the press release said.At the same time, OMV Petrom is continuing to expand its natural gas and electricity trading activities, with a diversified portfolio of products and services and a growing presence in the region. In Refining and Marketing, the company is continuing to modernise its assets to respond to changing mobility needs. Recent investments have increased the flexibility and reliability of the Petrobrazi refinery, allowing it to process a wider range of crude oils and supporting an average utilisation rate of more than 95% through 2030 in years without scheduled turnarounds."Petrobrazi is becoming an integrated platform for the future of mobility, with the addition of the SAF/HVO facility and the integration of green hydrogen into production processes. Work is progressing on the first major sustainable fuels production facility in Southeastern Europe. The new unit will produce fuels using renewable feedstocks. Once completed in 2028, the Petrobrazi SAF/HVO unit will have an annual production capacity of 250,000 tonnes. All modules for the two green hydrogen electrolysers for which we have taken the final investment decision, with a combined capacity of 55 MW, have recently been delivered," the company said.By 2030, OMV Petrom is considering further expansion of its biofuel and green hydrogen production capacity through new projects currently under evaluation. In retail, OMV Petrom will continue its two-brand strategy, optimise its network and expand in high-traffic areas. It will also further develop its range of complementary products and digitalisation initiatives. In electric mobility, OMV Petrom is already the largest player in Romania and expects to expand its regional network to around 5,000 charging points by 2030.The company also says it is on track to meet most of its greenhouse gas emissions reduction targets, while adjusting some of them to reflect the pace of the energy transition. OMV Petrom has maintained its target of reducing absolute Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 30%, while revising its target for reducing the carbon intensity of Scope 1-3 energy supply emissions from 20% to 10%. Both targets are for 2030 compared with 2019."Progress will depend on technological maturity, market demand and supporting policies and financing," company representatives said.Average annual investment for 2024-2026 is estimated at around EUR 1.7 billion, falling to approximately EUR 1 billion a year in 2027-2030 as the company's strategic projects advance.
