ONRC: Number of forex start-ups in Romania advances 21.7pct, Jan.-Feb., 2022

The number of start-ups established on foreign capital in Romania increased in the first two months of 2022 by 21.7%, y-o-y, to 977, according to data with the National Companies Registry Office (ONRC).The 977 new companies had a total subscribed share capital of 4.666 million US dollars, down 57.4% from 10.94 million US dollars in January-February 2021.In February 2022, 537 companies with foreign participation in the share capital were registered. Most registrants were dealing in professional, administrative, scientific and technical activities (26.07%), in wholesale and retail trade, motor vehicle and motorcycle repair (23.09% of the total), and transport, storage and communications (14.34%).At the end of February 2022, there were 237,824 companies running on foreign capital in Romania. The value of the subscribed capital was 66.183 billion US dollars.The largest number of companies running on foreign capital in Romania involved investors from Italy, 50,793 and a subscribed capital of 3.943 billion US dollars, but the highest value of the share capital belongs to Dutch companies, 12.376 billion US dollars in 5,711 companies.
