Over 92 million tons of goods, record volume operated last year in Constanta seaport, in 2023

  The freight traffic registered in the port of Constanta last year was 92.5 million tons, representing the highest volume operated so far, an increase of 22.5% compared to 75.5 million tons in 2022, the management of the Constanta National Company for the Administration of Maritime Ports (CNAPM) said.According to the source, in relation to Ukraine, the total freight traffic was 25 million tons in 2023, the Ukrainian grain that transited the port of Constanta representing over 14 million tons.Maritime freight traffic increased by 18% compared to 2022, to the value of 71 million tons, and river freight traffic increased by 40% compared to the previous year, reaching 22 million tons.Cereals remained at the top of traffic increases, with over 50%, exceeding 36 million tons in 2023, compared to 2022 when 24 million tons were recorded."Significant increases in freight traffic can be found in the case of the following groups of goods: oily seeds, iron ores, iron and steel waste, petroleum products, miscellaneous items, fertilizers," the source mentions.In recent years, the quantities of goods that have passed through the port of Constanta have broken record after record, the trend being supported by investments in infrastructure, to support economic agents in the port and to offer them conditions for attracting goods traffic.
