ParliamentaryElection2024/AUR's Simion: Political class fell into the pit it single-handedly dug itself

December 23, 2024

Leader of the Alliance for the Unity of Romanians (AUR) George Simion declared that the solution for Romania's future is dialogue, noting that the current political class "has fallen into the pit it has single-handedly dug itself.""We believe that the solution for Romania's future is dialogue (...). It's time to stop this Romanian vs. Romanian war and to deal with the good governance of the country. We've had too many successive governments of traitors. (...) The grand acts of corruption, of national plunder, have gone unpunished. (...) Romania will not be saved by corrupt politicians or by elites who have sold their souls to globalism. Romania's deliverance will come from its people, from the simple, honest people who believe in justice, in work and in solidarity. Today, more than ever, we need unity. Throughout history, we have shown that when we are united, we are invincible," Simion stated. He added that AUR is ready to take the responsibility of governing and called on the state institutions to allow the "democratic transition" of power."They combined local and EP elections in order to remove AUR from the game. (...) I am calling on the Romanian Intelligence Service, the Foreign Intelligence Service, the Permanent Electoral Authority, the Central Electoral Bureau, the Romanian Police and the Romanian Justice to allow the democratic hand-over of power. We are ready to take up the act of governing in the interest of the Romanian people, protecting the basic institutions of the state and the separation of powers in the state," Simion said. The AUR leader also said that his party would never enter an alliance with the Social Democratic Party (PSD), but "only with the sovereignists"."We will forge no alliance with the PSD, I reaffirm this position of AUR. We make an alliance only with Romanians, only with sovereignists, only with those who want to build cleanly. We will not ally with corrupt parties, we will not ally with parties that destroyed Romania," Simion assured. He also mentioned that AUR makes a pledge to "the entire free world" to fight for democracy, to continue Romania's European and Euro-Atlantic efforts so far."I am calling on our Western partners not to listen to the disinformation spread by certain agents of the open society NGOs. (...). The commitment we make before the entire free world is to fight for democracy, to continue the European and Euro-Atlantic efforts Romania has made so far. The Romanian people and AUR have only one fault, that of not having tolerated anymore the corruption of the political class that has led us until now. (...) Romania has chosen sovereignty, dignity and justice," Simion said, adding that last Sunday's election must be continued, "as is legal", next Sunday."I am urging all the institutions of the Romanian state to defend democracy, to respect electoral laws, and the Constitution they swore by. A temporary leader or another, no matter what their name is, cannot be obeyed when he gives illegal and unconstitutional orders," Simion concluded. (Photo:https://www.facebook.com/)
