PM Bolojan holds consultations with AMR representatives to reduce personnel costs and improve tax collection

   Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan held on Tuesday a round of consultations with representatives of the Association of Municipalities in Romania (AMR), in the context of the working meetings organized with local authorities regarding the reform in the local public administration."We are midway through 2025 in a difficult situation, both regarding the budget deficit component, as well as the ongoing investments. We started to implement the first package of measures to reduce budget expenses and correct some unbalances. The Finance Ministry data show us that we must continue in this direction. Therefore, we are preparing the second government package which shall include the reform of public administration. Our goal is to reduce public administration personnel costs, improve local tax collection, increase public service efficiency and continue decentralization," the prime minister stated, as quoted in a Government release.The Gov't and AMR representatives analyzed the proposals regarding the reform of property taxation, a commitment made by Romania under the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR), the downsizing of local public administration personnel and improving professional performance, implementing the clause according to which local budget balancing funds shall be determined based on the level of tax collection, the quoted source mentioned.The Government's consultations with local public administration representatives will continue in the coming period.Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan participated in the consultations held at the Victoria Palace on behalf of the Government, alongside Vice Prime Minister Tanczos Barna, Minister of Development, Public Works and Administration Cseke Attila, Minister of Labour, Family, Youth and Social Solidarity Florin Manole and Head of the Chancellery of the Prime Minister Mihai Jurca.
