PM Dancila calls on President Iohannis to change attitude in accordance with constitutional prerogatives. We are discussing second budget rectification for 2018, positive budget rectification

November 23, 2018

Prime Minister Viorica Dancila on Friday appealed to President Klaus Iohannis to “change his attitude in accordance with his constitutional prerogatives, so as not to create uncertainty,” thus referring to the appointment of the members of the Government. “The Government’s work is a team one and each of the ministers plays an important role, decisive in the achievement of the good results citizens expect from us. Unfortunately, we all notice that Mr President Iohannis is doing everything possible to block the Government’s activity in two vital areas. We believe that such political actions are inappropriate, especially at this time when we are preparing for the presidency of the Council of the EU and, at the same time, the year we celebrate the Centennial. This would be the time to enjoy consensus, to enjoy understanding, tranquility, 100 years on since the Greater Union. I publicly call on President Iohannis to change his attitude in accordance with the constitutional prerogatives, so as not to create uncertainty in two such important areas. I am convinced that the Romanians need unity and state institutions that function coherently and find solutions that best meet the  needs of the citizens,” the prime minister said at Victoria Palace at the beginning of the Executive sitting.   “We are discussing second budget rectification for 2018, positive budget rectification”   The second budget rectification for 2018 will be discussed in Friday’s Government meeting, Prime Minister Viorica Dancila announced, adding that this budget rectification will be a positive one. “We are discussing today the second budget rectification for 2018. It is a positive budget rectification, which has as main objective meeting the target of 2.97pct deficit of the Gross Domestic Product and the provision of the necessary funds for the implementation of the governmental policies and programs as well as for the smooth functioning of the public institutions,” Dancila said at the beginning of the Government meeting.
