PM Dancila visits Sultanate of Oman, conveys Romanian Government’s commitment in strengthening bilateral ties

Prime Minister Viorica Dancila conveyed on Sunday, during a meeting with His Highness Sayyid Fahd bin Mahmoud al-Said, Deputy Prime Minister for the Council of Ministers of the Sultanate of Oman, the Government’s commitment in strengthening cooperation, a press release of the Romanian Executive informs. “The two dignitaries assessed the stage of the bilateral relations and voiced their appreciation for the positive trend recorded in the last years, materialised not least by the expansion of the legal framework between the two states. The head of the Romanian Executive conveyed the commitment of the Government in Bucharest in strengthening and expanding cooperation in the common interest domains for both parties. In context, she referred to concrete opportunities for sectoral collaboration, in such domains as agriculture, tourism, infrastructure, education, culture, health, research and innovation and showed that Romania has an attractive business milieu, improved through recent legislative changes, such as the ones brought to the law on public-private partnership,” the release shows. According to the cited source, the Romanian Prime Minister expressed her conviction that the opening of the Romanian Embassy in Muscat and the signing of the Agreement between the Government of Romania and the Government of the Sultanate of Oman on the visa waiving for holders of diplomatic, special and service passports, on the occasion of her visit to Muscat, represent significant steps in deepening the bilateral political dialogue, which could lead to the expansion of the Romanian-Omani relations, in their entirety. The Deputy Prime Minister of the Council of Ministers of the Sultanate of Oman brought to mind the openness of the Omani authorities to work with Romanian counterparts in all areas of common interest. At the same time, the high-ranking Omani dignitary has highlighted the existence of numerous opportunities for investment, which can be achieved in both directions of the bilateral relationship. His Highness emphasized the importance of cooperation at the level of the two Chambers of Commerce and Industry, as well as the exchange of experience between the Omani and Romanian companies, the release reveals. At the same time, he suggested deepening exchanges of good practice in the field of public-private partnership. His Highness Sayyid Fahd bin Mahmoud al-Said has also shown interest in cooperation in education, given the acknowledged expertise of the Romanian side, the Executive mentions. “The two dignitaries also made an exchange of views on the situation in the Middle East, the Romanian Prime Minister appreciating the balanced position of the Sultanate of Oman in the regional files. The Romanian official also stressed the importance of deepening the dialogue within the Gulf Cooperation Council, as an optimal way of identifying the solutions to the security challenges in the region. Prime Minister Viorica Dancila also mentioned that Romania will hold the Presidency of the Council of the European Union in the first half of 2019, a position from which our country will take action to deepen regional and bilateral cooperation,” the press release further shows. The Romanian Prime Minister thanked His Highness Sayyid Fahd bin Mahmoud al-Said for the welcome and conveyed to the high-ranking Omani dignitary the invitation to pay a visit in Bucharest. The meeting was followed by a working lunch hosted by His Highness, in honour of the Romanian dignitary, at Al Bustan Palace, in the presence of the ministers of the Cabinet of Oman and 130 guests of the diplomatic body accredited in Muscat, the cited source also informs.
