PM Nicolae Ciuca elected as chairman of PNL

Prime Minister Nicolae Ciuca was elected as chairman of the National Liberal Party (PNL – ruling oalition) during the Party's Congress, which took place in Parliament, on Sunday.The motion that Nicolae Ciuca ran with received 1,060 votes in favor and 60 votes canceled.Nicolae Ciuca was the only candidate for the position of PNL chairman.Last Saturday, Florin Citu announced his resignation from the position of chairman of PNL, after several liberal leaders requested it. Even Dan Vilceanu resigned from the position of PNL's secretary general.   The new chairman of the National Liberal Party (PNL) Nicolae Ciuca declared that economic and social measures proposed during this period will be finished during the coalition's session on Monday."I do not support populism and quarrels, and regarding the measures that I discussed, we will finish them during the coalition on Monday, there is no discussion about populism, but measures for ensuring that the economy will function, to protect jobs and protect vulnerable citizens," Ciuca said, in Parliament, on Sunday.
