MP Alexandru Muraru, deputy chairman of the National Liberal Party (PNL), minor at rule, said on Tuesday that there is a majority current in Parliament that rejects any idea of an alliance or joint lists with the Social Democratic Party (PSD)."I saw among those, perhaps over 20 colleagues who spoke last night, that there is a majority current inside PNL that completely disapproves of and rejects any idea or proposal that could once again bring PNL together with PSD - not in a coalition, I mean in an alliance or in a joint list. And that, from my point of view, is very evident - that the PNL will no longer be able to form any electoral alliance or joint list with the PSD, for known reasons: their behaviour in such a format, the fact that we have often neglected our electorate, and that we have been complicit in some decisions made by the Social Democratic Party. We are not in that situation; now we are in a a four-party coalition, but I want to tell you that, ahead of 2028 or even after 2028, PNL can no longer enter into such an adventure of making any such construction with the PSD. Yes to a coalition. I said that in a coalition everyone keeps their identity and goes through their own forces or in another political construction, but not with the Social Democratic Party," Muraru said in Parliament.Asked if they are trying to destabilise Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan, he denied it, but said that he believes that "PSD projects an image of undermining" him."They are not trying to destabilise Ilie Bolojan, but PSD, through the channels and means it controls, political or media, does nothing but project this image of undermining Ilie Bolojan or lack of confidence of Ilie Bolojan within the PNL, which, from my point of view, was disavowed last night by that massive vote, overwhelming confidence in the prime minister," the MP said.Regarding the possibility of PSD coordinating some liberals, Muraru commented: "I find it hard to believe that PSD has access to some liberals to the extent of changing their political opinions or discourse. I think there may be colleagues in some cases who view the situation at a national or political level for the future, depending on local specifics."The National Political Bureau of PNL cast a vote of confidence on Monday evening in the party's national leader, Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan, confirming the majority support for him. According to a PNL statement, 47 votes "for" and three votes "against" were recorded. Muraru said that Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan enjoys an extremely strong vote within the National Liberal Party (PNL): "A vote of confidence was requested and proposed by president Bolojan as a measure to reconfirm support for the government's activity, for the measures in the coalition and to strengthen the position of the president of the PNL and the National Liberal Party in the coalition, at the head of the Government, and less at the head of the National Liberal Party. I also want to tell you that this is not the first vote of confidence that Ilie Bolojan has requested. He did the same thing two weeks after being invested with the position of interim president, in December 2024. Then, as you know very well, he took over the party (...) and managed to transfer credibility to the PNL percentages for the parliamentary elections and, likewise, he came back then and requested a secret vote of confidence. And now he has done the same, he expressly requested that this vote of confidence be secret, to protect those colleagues who do not want to expose themselves or, I know, would have been intimidated by an open vote. This vote assumes and demonstrates that Ilie Bolojan has overwhelming confidence in the PNL - 47 votes out of 50 colleagues who mean presidents of organizations, means first vice presidents, group leaders and so on, means an extremely strong vote in the PNL which shows that Ilie Bolojan is based on very important support".The second vote expressed in the PNL leadership meeting on Monday evening is one that stems from the decisions adopted last year in Congress regarding the dissolution of non-performing organizations, the deputy recalled.According to him, the vote of confidence granted to the PNL president should not be confused with the vote that concerns the institutional organization of the party and the functioning of internal organizations."Statutorily, practically, every time there are elections, we will determine the dismissal or dissolution of the offices of organizations with poor performance", added the PNL vice-president.Alexandru Muraru also said that, in the Monday evening meeting, "there were no attacks" against Ilie Bolojan, but "it was a very good, realistic discussion".Asked whether the vote on the statute should be repeated, he answered in the affirmative. The National Political Bureau of the PNL gave a vote of confidence, on Monday evening, for the party president, Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan, confirming majority support for the leader of the party.According to a PNL press release, 47 votes "for" and three votes "against" were recorded.
