The Secretary of State for Defense Policy, Planning and International Relations, Simona Cojocaru, and the Chief of the Defense Staff, General Gheorghita Vlad, met on Friday, in Craiova, with the Minister of Defense from Poland, Deputy Prime Minister Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysz, on which occasion the two sides emphasized the need to strengthen the deterrence and defense position on the Eastern Flank.During the visit, the high official met with the Polish troops stationed in the Southeast Multinational Brigade in Craiova."The visit, held on the eve of the winter holidays, offered an opportunity to reaffirm the relationship of solidarity and cooperation between Romania and Poland, in the context of increasingly complex security challenges", according to a press release from the Defense Ministry (MApN) sent on Friday.In the context of the discussions, the two sides emphasized the need to strengthen the deterrence and defense position on the Eastern Flank.Romanian officials expressed full appreciation for Poland's contribution to the security of the Black Sea region. Romania's participation in the Polish Battle Group was also highlighted."In these difficult times, when security threats in our region persist and increase, Romania and Poland remain united, as essential pillars of security and stability on the Eastern Flank, ensuring the protection of the Baltic Sea and Black Sea regions. Our common values and commitments towards Euro-Atlantic security, they have built a strategic partnership that becomes stronger with each mission, exercise and joint operation.
