Premier Bolojan stated that the signal given by the European Commission confirms that the latest measures adopted by the government were correct and started yielding results. “Valdis Dombrovskis, the European commissioner for economy, said today that thanks to the fiscal measures adopted this summer the situation in Romania improved and the Commission will not propose the suspension of European funds,” Bolojan informed. The Premier explains the implications of the EC decision: The Excessive Deficit Procedure remains suspended – that is Romania will not be sanctioned. The deficit is dropping and the tendency will maintain in the following years. Rising expenses will be kept under control and will remain close to the recommended level. We continue investments financed from European funds. “I thank commissioner Dombrovskis for the constant dialogue and the support shown for Romania in this difficult process. This is good news and a confirmation of the fact that we are going in the right direction. In past months we adopted difficult, but necessary decisions. Today we can see the first results: Romania is regaining its credibility. At the same time, the Commission message is clear: we must continue on this path. That means carrying out the planned measures, improving income collection, reducing expenses and placing budget order foremost. We will continue working seriously, responsibly while showing respect to public money,” Bolojan showed.
