Premierul Marcel Ciolacu: Aderarea României la Spațiul Schengen este, de astăzi, un proces ireversibil

The Government of Romania hails the decision adopted this evening by the EU Council to eliminate air and maritime internal border controls starting March 2024.
After 13 years of failures and humiliations, the Government I am leading started a process that is irreversible as of today.
Next year, we will continue our efforts to definitively close this chapter following the lifting of checks at internal land borders as well, stated Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu.
The EU Council adopted the Decision on the application of the Schengen acquis in Romania and Bulgaria.
In line with the EU Council Decision, the Schengen acquis will apply to Romanias air and maritime borders starting March 2024.
Also, in line with the EU Council Decision, in 2024, the Council will make efforts to take a decision to eliminate land border controls.
