Romania will not tolerate any foreign interference in its democratic process, President Nicusor Dan conveyed on Tuesday on X, highlighting that hybrid interferences are a threat not only to our country but also "a major challenge" for the entire Euro-Atlantic community.He mentioned that Romania's Prosecutor General published on Tuesday the investigations showing that our country was "the primary target of hybrid attacks orchestrated by the Russian Federation during the 2024 presidential elections."The head of state mentioned that there were over 85,000 cyberattacks targeting electoral infrastructure, alongside massive disinformation and manipulation campaigns conducted using social media, social engineering and micro-targeting techniques employed to influence voting and divide public opinion."According to the investigation, these actions directly supported a pro-Kremlin candidate in the electoral race. This is not only a threat to Romania, but also a major challenge for the entire Euro-Atlantic community. In this context, international solidarity and enhanced cooperation in the field of cyber and information security are essential," the President added.Nicusor Dan underscored that Romania will not tolerate any foreign interference in its democratic process. "We will firmly defend our sovereignty, the integrity of our institutions, and the trust our citizens place in them," the head of state wrote on X.
