President Nicusor Dan on Thursday stated that there is still discrimination in Romanian society, while people tend to avoid responsibility. He participated in the ceremony marking the European Day of Commemoration of the Victims of the Holocaust against the Roma."May God forgive them! It is our obligation to know our history and to assume our history, so that we don't make the same mistakes again," said the head of state."What seems to be tempting us is to dodge problems as a society and to blame others for them," added the president, urging reflection on this issue."We must admit that there is still discrimination in our society, that there are mentalities that we must correct, there are still disadvantaged communities," emphasised Nicusor Dan.According to him, the authorities must intervene in this case. "Children should start life with equal chances," the head of state pointed out, in his opinion this being the most important thing, including "if we think about the memory of those who died."
