President-elect Nicusor Dan, in Poland: Believe in your victory, as we believed in ours

June 24, 2025

President-elect Nicusor Dan said in Warsaw on Sunday he wishes to work with Rafal Trzaskowski, as President of Poland, for cooperation between the two countries and for a strong European Union.'I came to Warsaw because we share the same vision and the same values. I came to thank Poland, which has supported us on our European path. A word of thanks also to Prime Minister Tusk, who delivered a very strong message of support during our presidential campaign a week ago. (...) The values that define us are democracy, freedom of expression and the rule of law. Elections are also about pragmatism for the everyday life of each of us. In a highly competitive global context, we can only develop within a strong European Union. I believe in a strong Poland, in a strong European Union. As President of Romania, I want to work with President Rafal Trzaskowski and Prime Minister Donald Tusk to strengthen collaboration between our countries and to support a strong European Union,' said Nicusor Dan at the 'March of a Million Hearts,' held in support of Warsaw Mayor Rafal Trzaskowski, a candidate in Poland's presidential election. He encouraged those present to believe in victory.'Last Sunday, we won the presidential election in Romania. The people defeated isolationism and Russian influence. The people chose seriousness, honesty and respect for the law. The people chose action over words. These are the values I believe in, and they are the same values I see in Rafal Trzaskowski. Be active in the coming week and believe in your victory, just as we believed in ours,' said the president-elect.At the end of his speech, Nicusor Dan spoke a few words in Polish. Before attending the rally, President-elect Nicusor Dan was welcomed by Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk.
