President Iohannis calls on EU to send firm support message for Moldova's European integration

President Klaus Iohannis called on Thursday at the European Council meeting for a firm message from the EU to support the Republic of Moldova in the process of European integration, especially in the context of the elections to be held at the end of this week, condemning the interference and destabilisation attempts of the Russian Federation."The president of Romania called for the EU to send a strong message of support for the Republic of Moldova in the process of European integration, especially in the context of the elections in Chisinau, condemning the interference and destabilisation attempts of the Russian Federation," the Presidential Administration said in a press release.European support for Moldova must be carried out by all necessary means, in the economic, financial and security areas, the source points out.The head of state welcomed the recent visit of European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen to Chisinau and the launch of a Growth Plan for the Republic of Moldova.The main topics on the European Council meeting agenda were the situation in Ukraine, developments in the Middle East, the European Union's competitiveness and migration management.Leaders also discussed the Republic of Moldova, Georgia, support for the multilateral system and the rule-based international order, high energy prices and other topics related to the EU's external relations.The European Council reaffirmed its full support for the European course of the Republic of Moldova and its progress on the path of reforms and settlement.
