President Klaus Iohannis will participate, on Thursday, in the fourth meeting of the European Political Community, which will take place in the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, at Blenheim Palace in Oxfordshire, the Presidential Administration reports.According to a press release from the Presidential Administration sent to AGERPRES on Wednesday, the program of the meeting includes a plenary session and working groups, and the discussions will focus on topics such as security in Europe, support for Ukraine, challenges related to migration, protecting democracy and promoting energy security.More than 40 heads of state or government, the president of the European Council, the general secretary of NATO and the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy announced their presence at the meeting.During the debates, president Iohannis will address current issues regarding the continuation of support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, in the context of Russia's war of aggression, as well as the appreciation for the role of this meeting format in strengthening European resilience.Iohannis will also participate in the working group on energy and connectivity, where he will emphasize the need for "a balanced approach between the green transition and ensuring energy security at the European level and the important role of the Black Sea in ensuring regional energy interconnectivity".An informal meeting of the Coordination Group for the Republic of Moldova is scheduled on the sidelines of the plenary session. The members of the group, which includes the leaders from Romania, France, Germany, the United Kingdom, Poland, the European Union, along with the Republic of Moldova, will discuss aspects related to Chisinau's resilience in the face of multiple current threats.The European Political Community is a platform for political coordination launched on the occasion of the European Council in June 2022, in the context of the serious effects of the war of aggression launched by Russia against Ukraine. The objective of this format is the promotion of political dialogue and cooperation on topics of common interest, for the consolidation of security, stability and prosperity on the European continent.
