President Iohannis: There are premises that we will have a new government very soon

President Klaus Iohannis on Sunday, after consultations with parliamentary parties, said that it is possible for a pro-European coalition government to be formed "very soon.""The pro-European coalition formed by PSD - PNL - UDMR [Social Democratic Party, National Liberal Party, Democratic Union of Hungarians in Romania] and minorities came together with all the leaders, they requested the four leaders come together, and they informed me that negotiations for finding a solid governmental equation are close to finalisation. There are premises that very soon we will have a completed governmental formation as a result of the negotiations," said the head of state at the Cotroceni Palace.The head of state held consultations with parliamentary parties earlier in the day regarding the appointment of a prime minister. The PSD - PNL - UDMR coalition, along with minorities, and Save Romania Union (USR) responded to the invitation, while the Alliance for the Union of Romanians (AUR), S.O.S. Romania and the Party of Young People (P.O.T.) refused to attend.Klaus Iohannis mentioned that negotiations would continue throughout Sunday."I am optimistic that immediately after the election of the presidents of the two chambers, I will be in a position to make a nomination for the prime minister position," he said.
