President Nicusor Dan participates in the eighth meeting of the European Political Community (EPC), which will take place in Yerevan, in the Republic of Armenia, on May 3-4.The Yerevan meeting is taking place under the aegis of the theme "Building the future together: unity and stability in Europe" and continues the tradition of alternating the organization of Summits between EU member states and partner states, with Armenia assuming the role of host this time, according to a statement sent on Saturday by the Presidential Administration.During the meeting, President Nicusor Dan will co-chair, together with the President of Montenegro, Jakov Milatovic, the roundtable dedicated to the theme "Democratic Resilience and Hybrid Threats". The debates will cover democratic governance, combating disinformation and information manipulation, cybersecurity, defense, education and monitoring technological developments, including in the field of artificial intelligence, the cited source mentions.Within this format, the President of Romania will support the need for a more coordinated approach at European level, strong and transparent institutions and effective preventive measures against disinformation and external interference, with the aim of preventing current vulnerabilities from becoming long-term structural risks.In Yerevan, the President of Romania will also take part in a new meeting of the Coordination Group (Core Group) for the Republic of Moldova, an informal multilateral mechanism to support its security and resilience. Established in 2024 at the joint initiative of Romania and France, the group aims to strengthen the coherence of international support provided to the Republic of Moldova.At the same time, President Nicusor Dan will host, on the sidelines of the Summit, an informal discussion on the impact of the Vertical Gas Corridor on regional energy security, attended by a number of regional leaders. The event will provide a framework for dialogue on the strategic role of the project in diversifying supply sources, consolidating transit routes and increasing the energy resilience of the region, priorities of utmost importance in the current geopolitical context.The President of Romania will also participate in a meeting of the European Coalition Against Drugs (ECAD), an initiative launched by France and Italy, to which Romania has joined from the very beginning, on the sidelines of the CPE Summit in Copenhagen on October 2, 2025. The Yerevan meeting aims to operationalize the coalition's objectives, with discussions focused on combating maritime and port drug trafficking, countering illicit financial flows, money laundering and corruption, reducing synthetic drug trafficking in Europe and adopting an integrated approach, which also includes the public health dimension.The European Political Community is a dialogue forum at the level of heads of state and government, initiated in 2022 by France, with the aim of promoting political cooperation between European states that share common values. The platform brings together both EU member states and partner states and focuses on issues of security, stability and continental prosperity.
