President Nicusor Dan: This is not the moment for revolutions and destabilization in Romania

January 14, 2026

It is not the moment for revolutions and destabilization in Romania, said president Nicusor Dan on Tuesday, before participating in the “Coalition of the Willing”. The head of state said he wanted “a gradual change in Romania”. “We are in a difficult international context and it is not a good moment for revolutions and destabilization in Romania”, he added.   The head of state is in Paris, at the “Coalition of the Willing”. He went to Paris with Spartan aircraft. He said that choice explained the reduction of expenses of the Presidential Administration by 30 millions. The president announced that he would take action for the purchase of a presidential “at theright moment”, but not now. Long journeys which cannot be made with this airplane will be analysed “from case to case”, he added.   President Nicusor Dan participated on Tuesday, in “Coalition of the Willing, the meeting of heads of state and government held in Paris, at Elysee Palace, according to the Presidential Administration.   On Saturday, Ukraine's European allies met in Kiev to analyse the details of the latest version of the plan for putting an end to the conflict with Russia, prior to a summit of the Coalition of the Willing. The coalition is made of states which support Ukraine, AFP wrote.   Security councillors from 15 countries, among which France, Germany and Canada, as well as EU and NATO representatives met in the capital of Ukraine for this first meeting of the year.   Steve Wilkoff, president Donald Trump's special envoy, participated online, an Ukrainian official confirmed for AFP.“The first part of the meeting focused on frame documents, especially security guarantees and approaches of the peace plan, as well as the succession of the next joint steps,” Rustem Umerov, the chief negotiator of Ukraine declared for Telegram on Saturday.   Diplomatic efforts intensified in November with a view to concluding the bloodiest conflict in Europe after WWII, coordinated by US president Donald Trump, whose Administration carried out separate negotiations with Russia and Ukraine.   In his New Year speech, Ukrainian president Volodimir Zelenski declared that an accord was 90% ready, warning that the rest of 10% will determine the fate of peace, in the conditions in which the future of territories occupied by Russia remains a key-problem.
