President Nicusor Dan will attend NATO Summit in Ankara

President Nicusor Dan will take part, between 7 and 8 July in the reunion of the head of states and government of the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation (NATO) which will take place in Ankara, Turkiye, informed on Saturday the Presidential Administration.The Summit agenda includes a meeting at the highest level of the North Atlantic Council, as well as a series of related events, including those involving NATO partners. Several official documents will be adopted, including the Summit Declaration. 'Alliance leaders are meeting in Ankara amid a security environment that continues to deteriorate as a result of Russia’s war against Ukraine and developments in the Middle East. In this context, the Allies will emphasize maintaining transatlantic unity and reaffirming the priority given to collective defense," the Presidential Administration states. The main topics on the Summit’s agenda are: fulfilling commitments to increase defense budgets and having European Allies assume greater responsibilities, continuing support for Ukraine, and efforts to strengthen the Alliance operationally and industrially, as a cumulative result of the development of companies, production, and technological innovation. 'At the Summit, President Nicusor Dan will reaffirm our country’s status as a reliable Ally that contributes significantly to Euro-Atlantic security, highlighting Romania’s contributions across all areas of interest on the meeting’s agenda. Furthermore, the President of Romania will emphasize the importance of continued Allied support for security in the Black Sea region and the strengthening of a unified deterrence and defense posture on the Eastern Flank. Last but not least, President Nicusor Dan will draw attention to the consequences that Russia’s actions have at the regional level, including on Romania, with an emphasis, in this context, on the need to strengthen air and maritime defense,” the Presidential Administration added. On the margin of the Summit participation, president Nicusor Dan will have a series of bilateral meetings.This is the second summit held in Turkey, following the one in 2004, when Romania participated for the first time as an ally. On the sidelines of the summit, the NATO Security and Defense Industry Forum (NSDIF) will take place on July 7.
